Job description

At SEQUENCE Architecture and Design, we believe good design starts with good relationships. We're a Denver-based commercial architecture and interior design practice focused on creating thoughtful, functional, and distinctive environments for the people and organizations who use them. We care about the work, but we also care about the people we work with and the kind of place we create for our team. SEQUENCE is a growing practice with a long-term vision. We're looking for an experienced Senior Interior Designer or Licensed Architect who wants more than their next job—someone who wants to put down roots, build relationships, do meaningful work, and grow with a team. If you're looking for a place where your experience is valued, your ideas are welcomed, and you can see yourself being part of the team for years to come, we'd like to meet you.

OUR WORK

Our work spans a diverse range of commercial environments, with a focus on office and workplace, science and technology, healthcare, hospitality, higher education, restaurant and retail, adaptive reuse, and multifamily repositioning. We enjoy projects that require thoughtful problem-solving and an understanding of how people interact with their environment, whether we're transforming an existing building, creating a highly technical workplace, repositioning a multifamily property, or designing a new destination for people to work, learn, gather, shop, and connect. This variety gives our team the opportunity to work across different building types, scales, and challenges while continually expanding our knowledge and design perspective.

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is a senior-level role combining design, project leadership, client relationships, mentoring, and business development. You'll be involved from the earliest client conversations through design, documentation, construction, and completion. You'll develop ideas, solve problems, work directly with clients, and collaborate with consultants and contractors to bring projects to life. You'll also help SEQUENCE grow by developing relationships, staying connected to the Denver business and design community, identifying opportunities, and participating in interviews, proposals, presentations, networking, and client development. We believe business development happens naturally when good people do good work and build genuine relationships. Most importantly, we're looking for someone who wants to stay. We want to build a team of people who know and trust each other, enjoy working together, and are excited about where we're going.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Senior Interior Designer / Architect, you'll help lead projects through all phases—from initial client conversations and concept development through construction documentation and administration. You'll work directly with clients to understand their goals and challenges and translate them into thoughtful design solutions. You'll coordinate with project teams, consultants, contractors, and vendors to turn those ideas into well-designed, well-coordinated, buildable projects. We're looking for someone who enjoys the full range of the profession—someone who can discuss a design concept with a client, develop a Revit drawing set, and work through a construction detail with a contractor. You don't need to know everything. You should be curious, thoughtful, willing to ask questions, and interested in continuing to learn.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Lead Projects - Guide projects from concept through construction, helping keep design, budget, schedule, and project goals aligned.

Design + Documentation - Develop concepts, space plans, materials, finishes, details, and presentations. Lead construction documentation and coordination in Revit.

Work With Clients - Develop genuine, long-term relationships with clients. Listen carefully, communicate clearly, and become someone they can rely on.

Support Business Development - Build relationships through clients, professional organizations, networking, industry events, referrals, proposals, and presentations. Help identify and pursue opportunities that align with SEQUENCE.

Collaborate - Work closely with architects, designers, engineers, contractors, consultants, and vendors.

Mentor - Share your experience and help less-experienced team members develop their skills.

Contribute to the Studio - Bring your ideas, experience, and personality to a collaborative team that values both great work and good people.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • NCIDQ or NCARB certification required
  • Minimum 7 years of recent professional experience in commercial interior architecture and design
  • Must be local to the Denver, Colorado metropolitan area
  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field
  • Strong understanding of commercial interior construction
  • Working knowledge of building codes and accessibility requirements
  • Strong proficiency in Revit
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD/CAD, InDesign, Photoshop, and Bluebeam
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Strong design, technical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Comfortable working directly with clients and project partners
  • Interest in developing professional relationships and participating in business development
  • Willingness to mentor and support other team members
  • Curiosity and a desire to continue learning
  • Genuine interest in building a long-term career with SEQUENCE
WHO WE ARE

We're serious about design, but we don't take ourselves too seriously. We believe a good studio is a place where people can do excellent work, learn from one another, have a laugh, and enjoy coming to work. We value good design, good people, good relationships, and good work. We care about the details, take pride in what we produce, and believe strong relationships are built over time.

WHY JOIN SEQUENCE?

Find Your Place - We're building a team for the long term—not a revolving-door workplace.

Do Work You're Proud Of - Work on a variety of commercial projects where thoughtful design has a real impact.

Keep Growing - Continue developing as a designer, architect, client advisor, mentor, and professional.

Have a Voice - We value experience and perspective and want people who contribute ideas and make the practice better.

Grow With Us - SEQUENCE is growing, and the people who join us now will have an opportunity to play an important role in shaping our future.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Our studio is located in Downtown Denver. We value working together, sharing ideas, and having real conversations around the table.

WHAT YOU'LL GET
  • A base compensation package between $90,000 to $110,000
  • 100% employer-paid employee medical insurance
  • Optional dental and vision insurance (employee paid)
  • Retirement plan with employer contribution after one year
  • Paid time off with rollover options
  • 11 paid holidays
  • Paid parking or transit pass
  • All equipment and technology needed to be successful
  • Collaborative and supportive studio environment
  • Opportunities for professional growth and increasing responsibility
A LITTLE ABOUT YOU

Maybe you're happy where you are but curious about what's next. Maybe you're ready for a place where your experience can make a difference. Or maybe you're simply looking for a team where you can settle in, build great relationships, do work you're proud of, and enjoy the people you work with. Whatever brings you here, we'd like to hear from you. SEQUENCE Architecture and Design is building something for the long term. We'd love to have you be part of it.
