Joining studioDSK | Interiors as a Senior Interior Designer offers the opportunity to shape distinctive, challenging projects while building meaningful visibility within the design community. This is a leadership-focused role for a designer who brings strong creative vision, design rigor, and the ability to inspire both clients and project teams.

The Senior Interior Designer will lead the design vision for interior projects, establishing the initial concept and design direction and guiding critical aesthetic decisions from concept through execution. Working collaboratively with clients, senior leadership, and interdisciplinary project teams, they will transform ideas into compelling, thoughtful environments that reflect studioDSK’s commitment to design excellence.

As an important member of the Interiors practice, the Senior Interior Designer will also contribute to the growth of people and the practice, mentoring junior designers while being actively supported and mentored along their own leadership pathway. The position creates meaningful connections across studioDSK’s advisory, planning, architecture, and interiors practices, providing opportunities to influence projects from multiple perspectives and expand the impact of interior design across the Firm.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the interior architecture and design process from vision through execution, contributing across all phases of a project—from programming, conceptual and schematic design through design development, documentation, construction administration, FF&E procurement, and installation. Bring a high level of design rigor, organization, and ownership to every stage.
• Shape and advance the design vision in close collaboration with studioDSK leadership, clients, and interdisciplinary project teams. Translate programmatic requirements, contextual considerations, and client aspirations into distinctive, cohesive, and highly considered interior environments.
• Direct the development of interior architectural concepts and documentation, including space planning, materiality, furniture layouts, reflected ceiling and lighting plans, interior elevations, millwork and casework, kitchens, custom details, doors and hardware, finishes, and architectural specifications. Ensure that drawings, schedules, and details are thoroughly coordinated and communicate design intent with precision.
• Lead the selection, development, and integration of FF&E, finishes, and products, including furniture, lighting, plumbing fixtures, appliances, art, accessories, and specialty products. Develop custom furniture, millwork, lighting, and product solutions when appropriate, collaborating with fabricators, artisans, manufacturers, and consultants to achieve a high level of design resolution and craftsmanship.
• Oversee FF&E and material implementation from specification through installation, including budgeting, quotations, client proposals, procurement coordination, delivery, installation, and final placement. Review vendor pricing and procurement documentation to ensure accuracy, aesthetic alignment, and adherence to project budgets.
• Safeguard design intent through documentation and execution, reviewing shop drawings, samples, submittals, and other project documentation; coordinating with architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, and fabricators; and participating in site visits, field observations, punch-listing, and project closeout.
• Lead and contribute to client, presentation, and business development efforts, articulating design concepts and recommendations with clarity and professionalism. Prepare and present design work for clients, prospective clients, interviews, proposals, and industry audiences.
• Cultivate a sophisticated network of design resources and industry knowledge, maintaining a strong awareness of evolving design practices, materials, products, manufacturers, technologies, and sustainable solutions. Build meaningful relationships with vendors, workrooms, fabricators, artisans, manufacturers, and sales representatives to continually expand studioDSK’s creative resources.
• Contribute to the stewardship of studioDSK’s design resources, including the Materials Library, product and material research, vendor relationships, sustainability information, and project-specific sample coordination.
• Mentor and develop emerging designers, providing thoughtful design direction, technical guidance, constructive critique, and support throughout project development. Foster a culture of collaboration, curiosity, craftsmanship, and design excellence.
• Engage actively across studioDSK’s interdisciplinary practice, collaborating with advisory, planning, architecture, and interiors teams to strengthen integrated design solutions and bring an interiors perspective to broader project and Firm-wide initiatives.
• Contribute to the continued evolution of studioDSK’s design culture and practice, participating in knowledge sharing, professional development, recruiting, industry engagement, and initiatives that advance the Firm’s design identity, standards, and values.

QUALIFICATIONS + EXPERIENCE

• 8+ years of progressive professional interior design experience, including a minimum of 5 years of residential interior design experience, with demonstrated growth in design responsibility, project leadership, and client engagement.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in interior design, Interior Architecture, or a related design discipline from an accredited institution.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and successfully deliver sophisticated interior design projects on schedule, within budget, and at a consistently high level of design quality.
• Strong experience across all phases of the design process, including programming, concept design, schematic design, design development, construction documentation, procurement, installation, and construction administration.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, coordinating teams, consultants, vendors, schedules, budgets, and deliverables across projects at varying stages of development.
• A strong design sensibility and point of view, with the ability to conceptualize, develop, articulate, and execute compelling design ideas while remaining responsive to client goals, project context, and budget.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with confidence and professionalism to articulate design ideas clearly and build trusted relationships with clients, consultants, vendors, colleagues, and Firm leadership.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, mentor, and develop junior team members, fostering collaboration, accountability, creativity, and professional growth.
• Highly organized and self-directed, with exceptional attention to detail, judgment, and follow-through and the ability to prioritize effectively in a dynamic, deadline-driven design environment.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development, including engagement with the broader design community and awareness of emerging industry trends, materials, technologies, and best practices.
• Advanced proficiency in Revit/BIM, Enscape, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office. Experience with additional visualization, specification, procurement, or project management platforms is valued.
• General understanding of sustainable design strategies and principles, including familiarity with LEED and other green building standards or rating systems.
• NCIDQ certification preferred but not required.
• Ability to handle confidential, proprietary, and sensitive client and Firm information with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
• This is an in-person position, reflecting studioDSK’s collaborative design culture and interdisciplinary approach.
• Ability and willingness to travel as required for client meetings, project site visits, installations, industry events, and other project-related responsibilities.
