JPI has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Interior Designer to join our Central Development team in Dallas, TX. The Senior Interior Designer will own the design process and production of interior design documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead interior design vision and concept development for multifamily projects with direction from the Director of ID.
• Translate concepts into fully realized design solutions aligned with goals, budgets, and branding.
• Mentor junior designers and oversee drafting support teams to ensure quality.
• Coordinate with construction administration and third-party interior design firms.
• Assist in AI-driven drafting and documentation processes.

JPI has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Interior Designer to join our Central Development team located in Dallas, TX. The Senior Interior Designer will own the design process and production of interior design documentation. This role works closely with the development, architecture, and construction teams to create thoughtful, cohesive interiors that reflect the project’s vision, budget, and branding strategy.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Design & Drawing Review
• Lead the interior design vision and concept development for multifamily projects (clubhouses, units, amenities, corridors, leasing, etc.) with direction from the Director of ID.
• Translate conceptual direction into fully realized design solutions that are aligned with project goals, budgets, and brand positioning.
• Lead the interior design process to ensure compliance in quality, design, and applicable building codes.
• Select finishes, materials, lighting, and furnishings with a strong focus on quality, durability, and aesthetics appropriate for multifamily residential environments.
• Responsible for ID presentation of plans, materials, and FF&E to ownership and financial partners.
• Assist Director in documenting ID drawing standards and SOP
• Support procurement efforts by coordinating FF&E selections, specifications, documentation, and installation.
• Mentor junior designers and oversee drafting support teams to ensure consistency and quality in deliverables.
• Coordinate with the Construction Administration Manager to review submittals and RFIs to ensure design intent is carried through into the built environment.
• SharePoint and Procore drawing upload management and verification.
• Third Party Coordination & Internal Liaison
• Communicate and manage consultants and third-party interior design firms.
• Works closely with Director of Design, Design Managers, Trades, PreCon, Development, and Investment Management providing support on in-house projects.
• Market Trend Analysis
• Assists Director and Design Management with the collection and coordination of design components/product types for current competitor developments (i.e., flooring, windows, kitchen features, and amenities) and best practices from other product types (single family, hospitality, resorts, etc.).
• AI & Automation
• Uses approved enterprise AI tools (e.g., Claude Cowork, Microsoft Copilot) to draft, summarize, analyze, and accelerate everyday work.
• Applies sound judgment to review AI-generated outputs for accuracy, tone, and appropriateness before using or sharing them.
• Follows company data handling, confidentiality, and acceptable-use policies when working with AI tools and sensitive information.
• Demonstrates curiosity and willingness to adopt new tools; actively participates in AI training, office hours, and adoption campaigns.
• Uses AI assistants to reduce manual effort on routine tasks (email drafting, meeting notes, document summarization, basic research).

Education, Work Experience, & Physical Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in interior design with advancement toward professional registration preferred.
• 5-7 years’ experience as a member of a design team for multifamily, mixed-use or hospitality projects.
• NCIDQ/RID preferred
• Knowledge of interior design specifications, calculations, ADA guidelines and industry standards.
• A team player who possesses a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a high level of professionalism.
• Possesses strong communication and organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
• Candidate must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
• Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
