Job summary

NY STATE ELECTRIC & GAS CORP is seeking a Principal Engineer for Interconnections in an office-based role in New York. You will lead complex distribution planning, reliability studies, and DER interconnections, mentoring engineers and driving cross-functional projects with broad business impact.

The role requires deep expertise in planning, reliability, and regulatory contexts, with strong leadership and communication skills to influence stakeholders and guide strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 10 years of relevant experience.
• Advanced degree and/or PE license desired.
• Broad knowledge of Distribution Planning, Reliability Engineering and DER.

Responsibilities

• Solve complex distribution planning and reliability issues, including large-scale load additions and DER interconnections.
• Develop alternative methods or design concepts to resolve unique problems (NWAs).
• Lead and mentor Interconnection Engineers and oversee studies and projects.
• Present findings to regulatory/public entities and support stakeholders.
