Job summary

ChargePoint in Campbell, CA is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer – Interconnect Design to lead the design and execution of interconnect solutions for our EV charging products. You will own manufacturability, cost, and quality from architecture to mass production.

As a core contributor, you will interface with global suppliers, drive design for manufacturing, and ensure robust electrical connections for regulated consumer hardware.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 6+ years in engineering with 3+ years in Cable Harness or Interconnect design.
• Understanding of cable/connector tests (cross-section, pull-out, current cycling, electrical performance).
• Knowledge of metallurgy, solid mechanics, and material selection for electrical contacts, conductors, insulators.
• Connector selection and crimping quality; familiarity with standards (USCAR, IEC, IPC).
• Thermal design of contacts and ampacity; wire gauge selection (twisted pair, micro-coax, AWG).
• CAD proficiency and ability to review/optimize 2D drawings with tolerances and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Architect to mass production from architecture to production.
• Design, prototype, and refine solutions to challenging engineering problems.
• Collaborate with global suppliers to convert designs into mass production.
• Identify opportunities to improve quality, cost, assembly and manufacturing.
• Develop and monitor production tooling for manufacturing.
• Conduct root cause and failure analysis on parts and products.
