Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of insurance verification experience, and/or formal supervisory experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration or related field preferred.
• NAHAM membership or 90-day membership after hire funded by department.

Responsibilities

• Lead and guide a team of Insurance Verification Specialists (IVSs).
• Coordinate with Patient Access Director on daily operations and workloads.
• Verify, interpret, and document patient health insurance or payment source.
• Audit IVS work for accuracy and completeness in the system.
• Evaluate eligibility for alternate financing sources and refer as needed.
• Estimate self-pay portions after benefits are determined (deductibles, co-pays).
• Maintain regular communication with patients/families on clearance matters.
• Communicate with program/department contacts about pending issues.
• Forward supporting documentation to registration, accounting, and clinical areas.
• Orient and precept new staff; enforce institute policies.

Education
