Job summary

UTHealth Houston is seeking a Revenue Cycle Financial Clearance Specialist III to lead advanced insurance verification and authorization tasks. You will secure benefits, authorizations, and referrals, analyze denials, and support process improvements while mentoring junior staff.

Responsibilities include documenting data in Epic, communicating with patients, and ensuring compliance with policies. This is a on-site role within the Texas-based Revenue Cycle team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate's Degree in healthcare, business, or related field preferred.
• 5 years of experience in insurance authorization, verification, or healthcare financial clearance.
• Proven experience mentoring or training staff.
• Must reside and work in Texas.

Responsibilities

• Verify insurance and benefit coverage; document patient demographics and details.
• Secure and document prior authorizations and referrals per guidelines.
• Review policies for medical necessity and initiate reviews or appeals when needed.
• Document insurance data in Epic with plan selection validation.
• Communicate with patients about coverage and costs; provide timely estimates.
• Guide and train junior team members on verification and Epic standards.
