Job summary

UC San Diego Health's Revenue Cycle department seeks a seasoned Financial Clearance and Insurance Authorization Lead to verify insurance eligibility, obtain pre-certifications, and estimate patient financial responsibility for hospital and professional services.

As an Epic super-user, you will mentor specialists, participate in testing and training, and help resolve denials while collaborating with patients and providers to minimize delays and improve workflow.

Qualifications

• Minimum of four (4) years of hospital and/or professional services pre-access or billing experience in an academic or multispecialty setting.
• Experience with insurance eligibility and benefits verification, obtaining pre-certification/authorization, and explaining patient financial responsibility.
• Experience with insurance/benefits verification portals or other applications and training on Epic patient registration/scheduling applications.
• Hospital and/or professional services pre-access or billing experience
• Strong customer service, communications, and problem-resolution skills in healthcare settings.

Responsibilities

• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits coverage for hospital and professional services.
• Obtain pre-certification and/or authorization for medical services.
• Communicate coverage status with patients and providers and coordinate rescheduling when needed.
• Serve as Epic super-user, mentor specialists, and assist with workflow issues and denial resolutions.
