Job summary

Berkley Southeast is seeking a Sr. Accountant to handle general ledger processing and related accounting tasks. The role focuses on accurate monthly entries, budget variance analysis, and reconciliations across intercompany and insurance-related accounts.

The candidate will also support statistical reporting, budgeting cycles, and SOX testing while ensuring attention to detail and strong communication with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Min of 5 years accounting experience in an insurance environment.
• Proficient with Word, Excel and AP/GL systems.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post monthly journal entries (cash, premiums/losses, accruals, intercompany).
• Prepare and distribute monthly budget variance reports.
• Prepare and reconcile reinsurance accounting entries and accounts.
• Maintain fixed asset system and post depreciation.
• Perform monthly bank and intercompany reconciliations.
• Support statistical reporting requests and various monthly reports.
• Assist in budgeting and Sarbanes-Oxley testing.
