Job summary

Berkley Southeast, a Berkley Company, seeks a Sr. Accountant to join our Charlotte area team and support general ledger processes, month-end close, and internal controls.

Requires 5+ years in insurance accounting, a 4-year degree in accounting or business, and proficiency with Word, Excel, and AP/GL systems. On-site locations include Lawrenceville, GA; Charlotte, NC; Nashville, TN; Birmingham, AL; Meridian, MS.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years accounting experience in insurance.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or business required.
• Proficient with Word, Excel and AP/GL systems.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post monthly journal entries, including premiums/losses, expense accruals, inter-company expenses, and allocations.
• Prepare and distribute monthly budget variance report.
• Prepare and reconcile reinsurance accounting entries and accounts for premiums and loss activity.
• Maintain fixed asset system and post monthly depreciation expense.
• Perform monthly bank, intercompany, and other account reconciliations.
• Assist in budgeting, Sarbanes-Oxley testing, and unclaimed property reporting.
• Assist in processing agent incentive contracts and profit sharing payments.
• Complete other duties as assigned by the Controller or CFO.
