Job summary

Placements24 in Queenstown, Eastern Cape, is seeking a Senior Instrumentation Technician to install, calibrate, and maintain sophisticated instrumentation and control systems in an industrial setting. You will troubleshoot faults, perform preventative maintenance, and read P&IDs to ensure reliable operation and safety.

The role requires 5+ years of hands-on instrumentation experience, DCS/PLC familiarity, and strong electrical safety knowledge.

Qualifications

Trade Certificate or National Diploma in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as an Instrumentation Technician.
Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing instrumentation, including transmitters, analyzers, and control valves.
Experience with DCS and PLC systems.
Strong electrical safety and hazardous area knowledge.
Ability to read manuals and schematics.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Willing to work on a rotational basis.

Responsibilities

Install, commission, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation and control systems.
Troubleshoot and repair instrumentation faults.
Perform preventative maintenance per schedules and procedures.
Read and interpret P&IDs and instrument loop diagrams.
Ensure safety policy compliance.
Participate in safety meetings and risk assessments.
Assist in maintaining procedures and documentation.
Collaborate with operations and engineering teams.
Train and mentor junior technicians.
