Job summary

Black & Veatch in Irvine, CA is seeking a Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to lead I&C planning, design, and SCADA master planning for water and wastewater projects across the West region.

You will provide technical leadership, manage multi‑discipline teams, drive business development, and oversee scope, schedule, and budgets while representing BV with clients and partners to deliver integrated solutions.

Qualifications

• 10 years’ experience in instrumentation, control, and automation design consulting.
• 4 years’ experience in water/wastewater industry.
• 2 years’ experience in project management and business development.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical leader and trusted advisor for instrumentation, controls, automation, and SCADA projects in the West region.
• Lead I&C planning, design, and SCADA master planning, while supporting business development pursuits and client relationships.
• Take ownership of project execution and coordination, guiding multi‑discipline teams, managing scope, schedule, and budgets, and representing Black & Veatch with clients and partners.
• Provide local interface by attending client and contractor meetings, performing field investigations, attending factory acceptance testing, and helping to resolve I&C client and construction issues.
• Monitor and control project schedule and budgets and assist with proposals and presentations in response to sales opportunities.
