Job summary

American Electric Power in multiple locations seeks an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to define design basis for I&C systems, collaborate with AE/EPC firms, and ensure OT/IT alignment with cybersecurity best practices. You will engage OEMs during RFx, support retrofit and new build projects, and help develop technical specifications.

The role requires 4+ years in engineering with ABET accreditation or 2 years with a Master's/PhD, plus PE preferred. Travel ~25% to various plant sites.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree; PE preferred or equivalent.
• 4+ years of related engineering experience; or 2+ years with advanced degree.
• Strong background in control theory and instrumentation documentation.
• Experience with OT/IT networks and cybersecurity for control systems.
• Willingness to travel ~25% and work at generating sites.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with AE and EPC firms to define design basis for I&C systems.
• Ensure OT and IT systems meet design requirements and best practices.
• Manage OT network and devices for system integration and communication.
• Implement cybersecurity measures to safeguard control systems.
• Engage with OEMs during RFx processes to ensure compliance.
• Support self-build proposals and AE/EPC scope documents.
• Develop and review technical specifications and designs.
• Assist in retrofit/new build project construction and installation.
• Monitor technology evolution and address obsolescence.
