Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking a Senior Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to lead PLC-based control system development for HVAC, Exhaust, UPW and IWT systems in both retrofit and greenfield projects. You will ensure all deliverables satisfy NFPA, ISA, IEC and local code requirements.

As the primary technical liaison between owner and EOR, you will enforce design standards and coordinate with contractors, support HAZOP/LOPA/SIL activities, and assess changes for safety and cost

Qualifications

• 6–8 years in instrumentation and control design engineering.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related field.
• Expertise with ISA, IEC, NFPA standards and codes.
• I&C design skills: instrumentation selection, PLC systems.
• Experience with CAD, Navisworks, Revit; Siemens TIA Portal and DCS platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead PLC-based control system design and construction for retrofit and greenfield projects.

Position Summary

As a Senior Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Engineer you'll lead the design and construction for PLC based development of comprehensive control systems for HVAC, Exhaust, UPW and IWT systems across semiconductor retrofit and greenfield projects. You'll be responsible to ensure all engineering deliverables meet NFPA, ISA Standards, IEC and local code requirements.

Role and Responsibilities

• Interpret and enforce Samsung design standards, specifications, and performance criteria.
• Ensure EOR and contractor adhere to functional requirements.
• Confirm that EOR I&C design is complete, technically correct, and aligns with owner expectations.
• Act as the main technical liaison between the owner and the EOR for all I&C design matter.
• Ensure I&C design aligns with applicable codes e.g: IEC, ISA, NFPA, NEC and local regulatory requirements.
• Provide expert inputs during HAZOP, LOPA, SIL assessment, and ensure proper implementation.
• Evaluate proposed design changes, identifying potential impact on functionality, safety and cost.

Skills and Qualifications

• 6 to 8 years of experience in instrumentation and control design engineering.
• Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic engineering or related fields.
• Expertise with industry standards and codes (ISA, IEC, NES, NFPA).
• Proven I&C design skills. Instrumentation selection, PLC systems and industrial network architecture.
• Software experience with CAD, Navisworks, Revit. Siemens TIA portal and DCS platform.
• PE, PMP, ISA CCS are advantageous.
