Job summary

TPC Group is seeking a Senior Instrumentation & Analyzer Engineer for its Process Automation Department in Houston. You will design, plan, install, and continuously improve instrumentation, analyzer, and measurement systems supporting assets across manufacturing and terminals.

Reporting to the Process Automation Manager, you will collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and other engineering disciplines to boost asset reliability, drive continuous improvement, and provide technical guidance for

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field required.
Minimum of 10 years in refining, petrochemical, or chemical plant operations in engineering, reliability, or maintenance roles.
Solid understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM) as applied to instrumentation and measurement systems.
Knowledge of field instrumentation and its interaction with control systems.
Ability to work safely in plant environment and troubleshoot using PFDs, P&IDs, interlock docs, loop sheets, vendor manuals.
Able to collaborate across teams to improve asset reliability and plant assets.
Excellent written and verbal communication; capable of engaging at all levels.

Responsibilities

Provides technical expertise on instrumentation, analyzer, and measurement systems.
Partners with Operations and other engineers to improve asset reliability.
Leads medium- and long-term programs addressing obsolescence and reliability threats.
Tracks performance, analyzes data, and implements improvements.
Leads RCA and other investigations involving instrumentation and measurement systems.
Owns design and implementation of preventive maintenance programs for these systems.
Advises Maintenance on repair scopes and ensures quality checkpoints.
Develops equipment specifications and scopes for projects installing instrumentation equipment.
Maintains plant equipment files and PSI.
Creates equipment standards and drives improvements across the facility.
Evaluates emerging instrumentation technologies and applies them where value is added.
Works with Procurement to source parts and inventory.
Mentors and trains junior engineers and technicians.
Performs other duties as assigned.
