Job summary

Qualifications

  • Two-year associate degree in engineering technology or related field required.
  • Ten+ years of experience with industrial utility plant control systems.
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • Good communication skills in English.
  • Ability to read circuit diagrams, electrical schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Experience with boilers, turbines, generators, chillers, cooling towers, and air compressors.
  • Familiarity with modern network media, equipment, and technology (copper and fiber).
  • Proficiency with Windows OS, Office applications, and industrial control software including distributed control systems and PLCs.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate work of the I&C team to assure plant needs are met.
  • Install, repair, maintain, and calibrate process instruments used to control and measure variables (pressure, flow, temperature, etc.).
  • Repair and maintain pneumatic and electronic final control elements, such as control valves and damper drives.
  • Work in motor starters and electrical enclosures to debug and repair control system issues.
  • Inspect and calibrate instruments and test equipment periodically and adjust calibration as needed.
  • Repair and maintain I/O, power systems, and controller hardware for PLCs and DCS.
  • Maintain and edit control programming for PLCs and DCS.
  • Administer the plant DCS for access and change control.
  • Coordinate with suppliers’ field service to ensure safe operation of control systems.
  • Manage outside contractors for control system projects and maintenance.
  • Reconfigure plant controls and graphics to improve system performance.
  • Ensure physical security of control system equipment.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements.

Requirements
  • Two-year associate degree in engineering technology or related field, vocational certification, or equivalent experience
  • Ten or more years of experience with industrial utility plant control systems
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance
  • Good communication skills in English
  • Ability to work independently and follow procedures, instructions, and safety rules
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with industrial utility equipment including boilers, turbines, generators, chillers, cooling towers, and air compressors
  • Familiarity with modern network media, equipment, and technology (copper and fiber)
  • Proficiency with Windows OS, Office applications, and industrial control software including distributed control systems and PLCs
  • Ability to read circuit diagrams, electrical schematics, and technical drawings
