Job summary

Q.E.D. Systems Inc. is seeking a Senior Instructor to train senior naval personnel and civilians in maintenance procedures. You will contribute to course development and deliver Ship Availability and maintenance training to Fleet personnel.

The ideal candidate will have extensive naval leadership experience, strong briefing skills, and a background in shore-based maintenance programs for surface ships, with a Bachelor of Science degree preferred.

Qualifications

• The Senior Instructor shall have served as an officer in a leadership role for material condition readiness as both a member of ship’s company and at an afloat/ashore staff level.
• Must have commanded at least one United States surface ship as an O-5 with one tour at Echelon III or higher U.S. Navy surface ship staff level.
• Two (2) years recent (within last five years) experience with shore management programs for surface ship maintenance, including the roles of Port Engineers, Availability Work Package Managers, Type Desk Officers, and Type Desk Assistants.
• Two (2) years’ experience conducting technical briefs at the Senior Officer level (at least 05/06 level audience), ship's wardrooms, and ashore maintenance managers.
• Bachelor of Science Degree preferred.

This position is a “Contingent Hire” position contingent upon a potential award of a new U.S. Navy contract to QED Systems.

Salary Range: $100,000/year - $120,000/year

Job Description: The Senior Instructor shall provide training to senior naval personnel and civilians on naval maintenance staffs. The Senior Instructor shall participate in course development and provide Ship Availability and Maintenance training.

Job Requirements/skill sets: The Senior Instructor shall have served as an officer in a leadership role for material condition readiness as both a member of ship’s company and at an afloat/ashore staff level. The Senior Instructor shall have had command of at least one United States surface ship as an O-5 with one tour at Echelon III or higher U.S. Navy surface ship staff level. In addition, the Senior Instructor shall have served one tour on an Echelon III staff or senior U.S. Navy surface ship staff level and have demonstrated two (2) years recent (within last five years) experience with shore management programs for surface ship maintenance, including the roles of Port Engineers, Availability Work Package Managers, Type Desk Officers, and Type Desk Assistants.

The Senior Instructor must have also demonstrated two (2) years’ experience conducting technical briefs at the Senior Officer level (at least 05/06 level audience), ship's wardrooms, and ashore maintenance managers. In addition, the Senior Instructor must also have strong communication skills and ability to communicate with senior naval and civilian personnel in a naval environment.

Education Requirements: Bachelor of Science Degree preferred

Security Clearance/Naval Facility Access: U.S. citizenship required. Must be able to meet and maintain eligibility for U.S. Secret Clearance and be able to access U.S. Navy ships, military facilities, naval shipyards, and private shipyards.
