Qualifications

  • 5–7 years of progressive instructional design experience in a corporate environment.

Job Title: Senior Instructional Designer

Location: Franklin, TN

Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 3 days onsite, 2 days remote

About the Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Instructional Designer to lead the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of impactful learning programs. This individual will partner with business leaders, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and key stakeholders to identify performance gaps, define learning needs, and translate complex information into clear, practical learning experiences. The ideal candidate will be able to independently manage the full instructional design lifecycle, from initial discovery and curriculum architecture through development, quality assurance, LMS deployment, and evaluation.

Job Description:

The Senior Instructional Designer will own end-to-end learning solutions and curriculum development while serving as a strategic partner to business leaders and SMEs. This role requires strong content analysis, project management, instructional design, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop end-to-end learning programs, including learning paths, prerequisites, activities, assessments, and performance support.
  • Conduct needs, task, role, and audience analyses to identify skill and performance gaps.
  • Translate business requirements into measurable learning and performance objectives.
  • Lead discovery sessions with SMEs to understand job tasks, workflows, business rules, exceptions, and performance expectations.
  • Partner with stakeholders and SMEs to organize complex information into clear, learner-focused instruction.
  • Apply adult learning theory, educational psychology, and modern instructional design principles.
  • Design and develop learning experiences across multiple formats, including eLearning, virtual learning, and instructor-led training.
  • Create engaging multimedia learning experiences using modern authoring and media production tools.
  • Manage projects, timelines, deliverables, stakeholder feedback, and quality assurance throughout the instructional design process.
  • Publish, test, and deploy learning content through an LMS.
  • Evaluate learning effectiveness and make improvements based on learner and business needs.
  • Ensure learning materials meet quality, accessibility, technical, and editorial standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Educational Technology, Human Resources, or a related field required.
  • Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • 5–7 years of progressive instructional design experience in a corporate environment.
  • Proven experience building complete learning programs and curriculum from beginning to end.
  • Strong experience conducting needs, task, role, and audience analyses.
  • Experience working directly with senior stakeholders and technical SMEs.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Experience developing both digital and instructor-led learning programs.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and manage projects with limited oversight.
  • Strong writing, editing, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Professional presence when working with executives and broad audiences.
  • Training or instructional design certifications are preferred.
