Job summary

Northern Trust seeks a Senior Trader- Brokerage to lead execution and oversight of institutional equity trading across the Americas. You will drive best execution, manage complex orders, and collaborate with clients, sales, and internal teams to optimize outcomes.

Qualifications

• College degree or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of institutional equity trading experience.
• Strong understanding of equity market structure and execution venues.
• Experience analyzing transaction cost analysis and performance data.
• Proven ability to manage large trading activity in fast-moving markets.

Responsibilities

• Execute institutional equity orders across a broad range of strategies including single-stock, portfolio, block, and index-related transactions.
• Determine execution approach, broker strategy, and venue based on market conditions and risk.
• Partner with external and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless trade flow and communication.
• Monitor execution quality, identify risks, and escalate issues with sound judgment.
• Operate within trading limits, entitlements, and regulatory requirements.
• Support audits and regulatory reviews with clear documentation of decisions and outcomes.
• Utilize pre-trade and post-trade analysis to inform strategy and evaluate performance.
• Contribute to enhancements of trading workflows and technology platforms.
• Develop relationships with institutional clients, brokers, and market participants as trusted advisors on execution.
