Job summary

Dearing Compressor & Pump is recruiting an Applications Engineer to lead all technical and commercial application engineering activities for natural gas compressor packages and related equipment. This senior role interfaces with customers, vendors, outside sales, engineering, production, and supply chain to ensure compliant, competitive proposals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related STEM discipline required.
• Minimum 5 years of direct gas applications experience; 10+ years preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in compressor packaging, highly technical specifications, and strong customer relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical evaluation of customer proposals and specifications for gas compression systems.
• Independently interpret complex specifications, codes, and industry standards.
• Perform advanced sizing of compressors, engines, vessels, and auxiliary systems.
• Develop complete technical and commercial proposals, including project scope, technical compliance, and pricing.
• Build accurate cost models using vendor data and engineering judgment.
• Solicit, evaluate, and qualify vendor proposals.
• Identify and mitigate technical and commercial risks.
• Lead technical discussions in pre-sales and kickoff meetings.
• Provide cross-functional technical support through design and fabrication.
• Act as primary technical resource for sales teams and customers.
• Mentor and train junior engineers and inside sales personnel.
• Support aftermarket and field technical evaluations as needed.
• Represent the company at customer reviews and industry events.
