Job summary

UC San Diego Health’s Revenue Cycle team seeks an experienced Auditor to lead review and remediation of inpatient facility coding, ensuring compliant documentation and timely query responses. The role includes training coding staff, educating the workforce, and collaborating with CDI and leadership to uphold data accuracy.

Qualified candidates will have extensive auditing background, knowledge of ICD-10, CMS regulations, and strong communication skills for senior audiences.

Qualifications

• Seven (7) years of auditing experience in a large academic hospital system or a Bachelor's Degree in related area plus three (3) years auditing experience.
• Thorough knowledge of the audit profession, internal controls, and professional auditing standards.
• Gathers, analyzes, and performs moderately complex audit assignments; developing advanced concepts.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to present sensitive information to senior management and external agencies.
• May require specialized expertise in enterprise software and relational databases.

Responsibilities

• Review, audit, and remediation of deviations from compliant inpatient facility coding.
• Oversee the generation and approvals of queries to ensure timely, appropriate responses.
• Assure that all coding assignments and workflow achieve the intended result; represent coding leadership at meetings.
• Ensure data integrity and quality of external data released to HEDIS, CMS and Vizient.
