Job summary

Valley Health System seeks an experienced health information coder to prepare statistical reports and code diseases and procedures using ICD-9-CM and CPT. The role requires attribution across inpatient, outpatient, and ambulatory surgery settings with high accuracy.

Minimum 3 years of acute care coding experience and RHIT/RHIA or CCS certification are required, along with AHIMA-approved program credentials. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology is essential for success.

Qualifications

• RHIT/RHIA or CCS credential required.
• Minimum 3 years inpatient and outpatient coding experience.
• Ability to crossover IP, OP, ASC, ER with high accuracy.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology.

Responsibilities

• Prepare statistical reports and code diseases and operations per classification systems.
• Maintain indices according to established policies and procedures.
• Ensure accurate reimbursement through coding accuracy and documentation.
• Collaborate with health information team to support compliance.
