Job summary

Corning Lead Injection Molding Process Engineer in Corning, NY, leads development, optimization, and validation of molding processes for new product launches, tool transfers, and ongoing production. You will resolve complex process challenges, establish robust standards, and partner with tooling, maintenance, quality, and automation teams to deliver high-performance manufacturing outcomes.

Ideal candidates hold a plastics or mechanical engineering degree, 5+ years of hands-on injection molding

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on injection molding process engineering in manufacturing.
• Experience leading development, optimization, validation, and troubleshooting of injection molding processes.
• Strong knowledge of injection molding machines, molds, hot runner systems, auxiliary equipment, and resin processing requirements.
• Demonstrated experience establishing and sustaining robust, repeatable process parameters using scientific molding principles.
• Experience leading process qualifications, mold trials, first article runs, and production transfer activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, setup, and validation of injection molding process parameters for quality and reliability.
• Troubleshoot molding defects; identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Own process qualifications, mold trials, first articles, and transfer to production.
• Collaborate with tooling, maintenance, automation, quality, and production on priorities.
• Mentor operators and junior engineers in process discipline and continuous improvement.
