Job summary

Molex Aerospace & Defense Solutions in Minnesota seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to develop, validate, and optimize injection molding and overmolding for high-reliability aerospace components. You will partner with Product Engineering, Operations, and Quality to ensure processes meet quality, cost, and regulatory requirements.

You will lead molding technology development, apply Scientific Molding and DOE, evaluate tooling and materials, conduct FAI and process validations, and drive shop-floor

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Plastics/Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in injection molding/overmolding or related plastics manufacturing.
• Experience with thermoplastics, molding optimization, tooling systems and validation.
• Knowledge of mold construction, SPC, and root cause analysis.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, tooling designs, and product specs.
• Strong verbal and written communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, optimize, and sustain injection molding and overmolding processes.
• Lead process development using Scientific Molding, DOE, and data-driven decisions.
• Collaborate with Product Engineering to improve manufacturability, quality, and cost.
• Evaluate mold designs, tooling concepts, materials, and process parameters.
• Lead mold qualifications, FAI, and production validations.
• Troubleshoot molding issues using root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Establish process windows, controls, and documentation for consistent quality.
• Support DFM, PFMEA, risk assessments, and new product introductions.
• Work with Tool Room to develop and maintain molds and tooling systems.
• Partner with production to standardize processes and drive continuous improvement.
• Improve safety, quality, throughput, yield, and cost using Lean and Six Sigma.
