Job summary

Round-Peg Solutions (RPS) in Valencia, CA is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead mold design, molding process optimization, and tooling development for our aerospace manufacturing operation. The role is onsite at the Valencia facility.

You will design and optimize molds, improve cycle time, quality, and cost, and work with toolmakers, machinists, production, and quality teams to bring tooling into production. Strong DOE experience required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in mechanical/manufacturing engineering or related field.
• Hands-on mold design and optimization experience required.
• Experience with injection and/or compression molding.
• Proven DOE and statistical analysis skills.
• Strong CAD skills in SolidWorks and/or CATIA.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize molds and tooling for production.

This is a fully onsite opportunity in Valencia, CA.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and optimize molds and tooling for production.
• Improve cycle time, part quality, scrap, tooling performance, and overall efficiency.
• Troubleshoot molding processes and perform root-cause analysis.
• Use DOE and statistical analysis to optimize molding processes and parameters.
• Design and modify molds using SolidWorks and/or CATIA.
• Work closely with toolmakers, machinists, production, and quality teams to bring tooling into production.
• Lead projects from concept through qualification and production.
• Identify opportunities to reduce manufacturing cost, labor, waste, and lead time.

Must-Haves

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
• Strong experience in mold design and/or mold optimization.
• Experience with injection and/or compression molding.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience with Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis.
• Strong CAD skills, ideally SolidWorks and/or CATIA.
• Experience working directly with toolmakers, machinists, or mold shops.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to independently own projects in a production environment.

Preferred

• Rubber, silicone, or elastomer molding experience.
• Aerospace or other highly regulated manufacturing experience.
• Mold Flow experience.
• Mastercam or other CAM experience.
