Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support the Ambulatory Infusion Suite and outpatient facilities in Houston, TX. This onsite role requires inventory control, compounding prep, data entry, and liaison work with patients, physicians, and pharmacy teams while upholding HIPAA and regulatory standards.

Qualified candidates hold a TX license, 1+ year experience, and a High School Diploma or equivalent. Shifts are Mon–Fri, 7 AM–7 PM, with competitive hourly pay and full benefits.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; or 4+ years as Pharmacy Technician.
  • Active Texas Pharmacy Technician license required.
  • 1+ year Pharmacy Technician experience preferred.
  • Onsite work at 4620 S Sam Houston Parkway Houston, TX, 7 AM–7 PM, Mon–Fri.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with ordering, receiving, counting, and maintaining inventory.
  • Unpack and store inventory per storage/refrigeration requirements.
  • Gather medications and supplies per compounding records.
  • Label prepared sterile products.
  • Clean prep area and sterile product complex; monthly clean of cleanroom.
  • Sanitize meds and supplies for cleanroom enter.
  • Restock pharmacy and cleanroom supplies.
  • Organize medication orders for production.
  • Package and label orders with required supplies and education materials.
  • Enter prescriptions from intake to order completion; verify data.
  • Contact patients, pharmacists, and doctors as liaison.
  • Communicate with patients, physicians, and providers via phone/e‑mail.
  • Complete refill details and arrange delivery for Ambulatory Infusion Suite.
  • Access and retrieve prescriptions and lab information in system.
  • Verify reimburseability and resolve rejected claims.
  • Process refills and interpret supply needs for therapies.
  • Resolve issues with accurate information; multitask across partners.
  • Follow HIPAA and all Pharmacy Policies/Procedures.

Schedule:

Monday through Friday 8-hours shifts between 7 AM and 7 PM

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Assist with ordering, receiving, counting, and maintaining inventory
  • Unpack and ensure proper placement of received inventory according to storage and/or refrigeration requirements
  • Accurately gathers medications and supplies according to specifications of compounding record
  • Label prepared compounded sterile products
  • Assist with cleaning of pharmacy prep area and sterile product complex, including required monthly clean of cleanroom environment
  • Sanitizing prepare medications and supplies for entry into cleanroom environment
  • Restock pharmacy and cleanroom supplies
  • Organize medication orders to prepare for production
  • Package and label prepared medication orders, insuring drug related supplies, and education materials are included
  • Prepare and scan compounding record documentation
  • Enter prescriptions from intake to order completion and verify member/patient data
  • Contact patients, pharmacists, and doctor's offices as a liaison for the pharmacy team
  • Communicate clearly and concisely via phone and electronic methods to patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers
  • Contact patients to complete refill assessments, request payment information, establish delivery details, and set up treatment in the Ambulatory Infusion Suite and/or other outpatient facilities
  • Access, input, and retrieve prescriptions and medical/lab information from computer system
  • Verify whether medication is reimbursable, and resolve rejected claims
  • Process prescription refills and interpret supply needs as related to various therapies
  • Resolve customer issues, ensuring accurate information is provided
  • Able to multitask and channel communication from various business partners, driving patient centric quality care
  • Follow all State and Federal regulations and Pharmacy Policies and Procedures, adhering to HIPAA and confidentiality code of ethics

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED OR 4+ years of experience working as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Active and unrestricted Pharmacy Technician license in the state of Texas
  • 1+ years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Ability to work onsite at 4620 S Sam Houston Parkway Houston, TX, Monday through Friday 8-hour shifts between 7 AM - 7 PM
Preferred Qualifications:
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB)
  • Completion of a pharmacy technician certification program (CPhT)
  • Pharmacy and prescription data entry experience
  • Experience working as an Infusion Pharmacy Technician
