Job summary

Scale Computing is hiring a Senior Systems Administrator to own the reliability, security, and performance of the infrastructure across on‑prem, virtualization, and cloud environments. You will manage servers, IAM, and backup strategies while leading projects and mentoring the IT team.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of systems administration experience, including at least 3 in a senior or lead role.
• Deep hands-on expertise with Windows Server and Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu, or similar).
• Strong experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper‑V, KVM).
• Active Directory and Entra ID/Azure AD, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy knowledge.
• Experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Scripting and automation with PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
• Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls, VPN, and load balancing.
• Backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning experience.
• Clear written and verbal communication abilities.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Administer, patch, and maintain Windows and Linux servers across on-prem, virtualized, and cloud environments.
• Manage virtualization and hyperconverged infrastructure, including capacity planning and lifecycle upgrades.
• Own identity and access management and enforce least-privilege practices.
• Design and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans and test them regularly.
• Monitor system health and respond to incidents, leading root-cause analysis.
• Automate repetitive tasks and configuration using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or IaC tools.
• Partner with Security on vulnerability remediation, hardening, audit evidence, and compliance.
• Lead infrastructure projects from scoping through delivery.
• Maintain documentation, runbooks, and network/system diagrams.
• Mentor junior administrators and serve as senior escalation point; participate in on-call rotation.
