Job summary

SPC Construction Co. in the New York area is seeking an experienced Estimator to prepare project estimates by analyzing specifications and contract plans to ensure cost-effective quantities and construction methods align with pursuit, schedule and price goals.

You will join a team delivering complex infrastructure bids across NY/NJ, reviewing drawings, historical data, and supplier pricing to support competitive bids and awards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in construction industry, estimating or cost control.
• Knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating Software.
• Growing knowledge of alternative construction delivery methods.
• Strong technical writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Reviews proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
• Reviews and incorporates historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports into unit and hour figures.
• Provides technical input regarding project and contract risks to lead estimator responsible for final bid price approval.
• Prepares discipline estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work and material quantity requirements.
• Monitors client addendum and advises estimating team on changes during the estimate period.
• Assists with design review options and recommends cost-effective solutions.
• Partners with estimating team to prepare and conduct project hand-off meetings between pursuit and project management teams.
• Researches and recommends vendors and subcontractors for designated scopes of work to achieve pursuit and cost goals.
