Edison Scientific, Inc. is seeking a Senior Infrastructure/Staff Engineer to own and scale the core platform infrastructure that powers autonomous scientific discovery. You’ll build Kubernetes-based systems, drive reliability, and partner with backend, ML, and research teams to enable fast, resilient experimentation.

The role emphasizes technical ownership, architecture decisions, and production-grade foundations, with on-site work in San Francisco’s Dogpatch district.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software, infrastructure, platform, or DevOps engineering experience.
• Experience with Kubernetes in development or production environments.
• Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Proficiency in at least one language (Python, Go, Java, TypeScript).
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Pulumi).
• Understanding of containerized apps, networking, and distributed systems.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams.
• Curiosity and problem-solving mindset.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and improve Kubernetes-based infrastructure supporting workloads and services.
• Scale clusters, manage resources, and implement operational improvements as usage grows.
• Develop tooling, automation, and deployment workflows for reliability and productivity.
• Implement monitoring, observability, and alerting for platform health and performance.
• Support storage, networking, and security within Kubernetes environments.
• Troubleshoot issues across distributed systems and participate in incident response.
• Collaborate with backend, ML, and research teams to understand workload requirements.
• Contribute to best practices, documentation, and operation processes.
