Job summary

Perplexity is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to build and operate cross-cutting systems that underpin real-time search, model serving, and AI workloads. You will own major production systems, drive architectural direction, and shape infrastructure strategy across teams.

You will collaborate with infrastructure, product, AI, and security partners to raise the engineering bar and deliver scalable, reliable platforms.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production backend, platform, or distributed systems.
• Experience owning complex production systems end to end across teams.
• Ability to set technical direction and mentor others.
• Strong backend skills in Python or languages such as Go, Rust, C++, or Java.
• Experience across at least two infrastructure domains (cloud, Kubernetes, storage, databases, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Own cross-cutting infrastructure problems spanning compute, storage, networking, data, deployment, and reliability.
• Design, build, and operate distributed infrastructure for consumer, AI, and enterprise workloads.
• Identify gaps between platforms and build shared abstractions, automation, tooling.
• Improve system performance, availability, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
• Debug production issues across service boundaries and drive durable architectural improvements.
• Set technical direction and lead high-impact programs across teams.
