Job summary

Edison Smart® is seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Lead to build and operate the company’s infrastructure for engineering, lab, and manufacturing sites. You will hands-on manage Linux servers, VMware environments, and hybrid cloud connectivity across Azure and AWS, ensuring robust, scalable lab and OT networks.

Ideal candidates have strong Linux, VMware, and networking skills and can work from a fully remote position with an Austin site and up to 25% travel to the site. U.S.

• Configure and support switches, VLANs, firewalls and Meraki or similar managed networking across sites.

• Run hybrid cloud environments in Azure and AWS, including cloud networking and connectivity.
• Work with engineering and manufacturing teams to keep lab and OT systems connected and reliable.
• Automate where it makes sense, and document what you build.
• Security and Microsoft administration are baseline requirements, not the focus.

A stealth stage defense technology company building directed energy systems. The team is small and senior, the work is real hardware, and the mission matters. The company is setting up its first dedicated infrastructure function and wants someone to build it properly from day one.

The role

The successful candidate will own the IT infrastructure behind the company’s engineering, lab and manufacturing sites. This is hands‑on work across Linux servers, virtualization, cloud and the network that ties it together. You’ll be the person who can stand up a server, configure the switch it plugs into, and connect it to the cloud.

• A build mindset, comfortable setting up infrastructure from scratch in a fast moving team
• Nice to have: experience with manufacturing or OT environments, CMMC, NIST 800-171 or ITAR, and Intune or MDM
