Red Oak Technologies is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer for a global technology company specializing in large-scale cloud infrastructure, developer platforms, and distributed systems.
This is a hands‑on engineering role focused on building systems that provide visibility across complex infrastructure environments, including physical networks, compute hosts, virtualization, managed services, and cloud workloads.
The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will design and develop solutions that unify configuration, inventory, networking, and observability data to provide infrastructure topology, service dependency mapping, configuration drift detection, failure analysis, and change‑impact assessment.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain infrastructure topology models spanning physical, logical, compute, network, and service layers
- Develop Python‑based collectors, parsers, automation, and data pipelines for infrastructure systems
- Collect and integrate data from configuration management tools, network devices, hypervisors, monitoring, logging, and observability platforms
- Develop processes to compare declared configuration against observed infrastructure state and identify configuration drift
- Build backend services and web‑based tools for infrastructure topology and dependency visualization
- Develop capabilities for service dependency mapping, blast‑radius analysis, failure‑domain analysis, and change‑impact assessment
- Integrate infrastructure data with alerting, incident response, ticketing, dashboards, and AIOps platforms
- Support automated root cause analysis and operational troubleshooting workflows
- Define and maintain standards for infrastructure data accuracy, freshness, reliability, and performance
- Partner with Network, Compute, SRE, Security, and other engineering teams to gather requirements and expand platform adoption
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in Infrastructure Engineering, Platform Engineering, SRE, Network Automation, or a related technical field
- Strong hands‑on Python development and automation experience, including building data pipelines and working with schema definition and validation
- Experience working across both cloud and on‑premises infrastructure environments
- Working knowledge of L2/L3 networking, including BGP, VXLAN, routing, and the Linux networking stack
- Strong understanding of virtualization, hypervisors, and compute host operations
- Experience with observability technologies such as Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, metrics, logging, and distributed tracing
- Experience modeling or processing infrastructure data using graph databases, columnar databases, or similar analytical data stores
- Experience with graph, topology, or infrastructure visualization technologies such as D3, Cytoscape, or similar tools
- Experience designing data collection and automation processes that minimize impact on production environments
- Strong troubleshooting skills across complex, distributed infrastructure environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating large‑scale, multi‑region cloud or IaaS environments
- Experience building or integrating CMDBs, infrastructure inventories, or network sources of truth, such as NetBox or Nautobot
- Experience with service dependency mapping, blast‑radius analysis, or failure‑domain analysis
- Experience with infrastructure digital twins, what‑if analysis, or change simulation
- Experience with AIOps, including alert correlation, anomaly detection, automated root cause analysis, or incident response automation
- Experience applying LLMs or AI agents to infrastructure or operational workflows
- Experience with automated diagram or topology generation using Graphviz, draw.io, or similar technologies
- Experience partnering with Security teams on infrastructure exposure or attack‑path visualization
Location Requirements
Candidates must reside within approximately 50 miles of Mountain View, CA and be available to work onsite at the Mountain View location 3 days per week.
Compensation
The annual base salary range for this position is $145,000–$190,000, depending on relevant experience, technical skills, and qualifications.
