SPS Commerce, Inc. is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, and support the physical and virtual infrastructure powering our SaaS platform.

You will manage VMware Cloud Foundation environments, storage, backups, and data center operations at the Minneapolis data center, with exposure to on-prem AI infrastructure. You will work with Windows Server and Linux guests, implement automation via PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, and Python, and collaborate with cross-functional teams

• 5+ years of enterprise infrastructure experience.
• Experience administering VMware vSphere and VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF).
• Experience with Windows Server and Linux guests and physical hosts.
• Knowledge of data center networking, VLANs, routing and switching.
• Experience with Rubrik backup and recovery and Pure Storage arrays.

This is a hands-on role focused on VMware Cloud Foundation, enterprise storage, backup and recovery, and data center operations. You'll provide the infrastructure building blocks for development and help ensure our operational systems meet their service level goals.This role reports to the Manager II, Network and Data Center. You'll be the on-site infrastructure engineer for our centralized Minneapolis data center, working alongside teammates in New Jersey and Canada, with hands-on exposure to the new technologies we're adopting, including on-premises AI infrastructure.Key Responsibilities:Manage the deployment, configuration, and ongoing operations of server hardware, VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environments, storage, and backup systems across SPS Commerce production environmentsManage Pure Storage arrays, including provisioning, capacity and performance monitoring, snapshots, and upgradesAdminister Rubrik backup and recovery, including SLA policies, backup monitoring, restore testing, and RPO/RTO reportingRack, stack, and decommission servers, storage, and network equipment; perform and oversee structured copper and fiber cabling, patching, and labeling; and maintain accurate asset and rack recordsManage rack power, including PDU monitoring, A/B power balancing, and power capacity planning for new deploymentsDevelop automation and infrastructure as code to provision, configure, patch, and report on infrastructurePartner with Development and Product Management to scale and improve production systems and servicesMonitor and administer assigned systems, providing documentation, cross-training, capacity management, and recommendations for future stateParticipate in an on-call support rotationStay current on developments in the field to evaluate, propose, and implement enhancementsRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience working in an enterprise infrastructure environmentExperience administering VMware vSphere and VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), including vSAN, NSX, and SDDC ManagerExperience administering Windows Server and Linux (Red Hat, Oracle Enterprise Linux, or similar) as VM guests and physical hostsWorking knowledge of data center networking at an associate network engineer level, including VLANs, trunking, link aggregation, routing and switching basics, and TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP troubleshootingExperience administering enterprise storage, specifically Pure StorageExperience administering enterprise backup and recovery, specifically RubrikExperience with data center rack power management, including PDUs and capacity planningExperience with physical copper and fiber cabling in a data center environmentExperience with scripting and infrastructure as code, such as PowerShell/PowerCLI, Python, Ansible, or Terraform, plus Git-based workflowsExperience working in an Agile development environmentPreferred Experience:Experience with VMware Live Recovery (formerly VMware Cloud Disaster Recovery, VCDR), including DR plans, failover testing, and cyber recoveryAssociate-level networking certification or equivalent experience, with hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco or similar switches, including VLANs, LACP, spanning tree, and IP subnettingVMware certification such as VCP-DCV or VCP-VCF, and Pure Storage or Rubrik certificationsDemonstrated knowledge of storage networking, including iSCSI, Fibre Channel, and NFSLocation:Hybrid – Minneapolis, MN, with on-site work at our Minneapolis office and data center as neededThe selected candidate is expected to start in January 2027.What We Offer:At SPS Commerce, we are committed to ensuring that each employee's compensation reflects their unique experiences, performance, and skills in their role.
