Job summary

Google is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Infrastructure in the United States. The role involves leading the Data Initiative within Google Global Infrastructure, shaping data architecture, and driving AI adoption to improve productivity.

You will mentor engineers and influence cross-functional teams across GGI, tackling complex data problems at scale. Expect to work across product lifecycles, collaborate with senior leadership, and contribute to safety, conformance, and quality of data.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience programming in C++.
• 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
• 5 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
• 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior leadership in GGI, cross-functional teams to collect requirements, and define product and key user journeys.
• Lead the technical design and execution of complex projects, ensuring alignment with the long-term data architecture strategy.
• Contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to production support.
• Identify and advocate for improvements to data quality, system architecture, and engineering practices within GGI.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to code reviews and best practices.
