Job summary

The Hartford seeks a Senior Staff Infrastructure Engineer with deep Oracle/Exadata expertise and hands-on IaC, cloud automation, and AWS experience. You will modernize database platforms, set reusable engineering standards, and reduce manual work while scaling the team.

You will act as a senior technical leader, mentoring engineers, applying responsible AI for productivity, and owning production outcomes across the platform engineering function.

Qualifications

• Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
• 8+ years of infrastructure engineering, database platform engineering, cloud engineering, or related enterprise technology experience.
• Deep expertise with Oracle Database and Exadata, including RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, ASM, PL/SQL, performance tuning, backup and recovery, resiliency, and capacity management.
• Hands-on experience designing or operating infrastructure in AWS.
• Strong infrastructure-as-code and automation experience using Terraform, OpenTofu, Ansible, AWS CloudFormation, Python, shell scripting, APIs, and REST-based integrations.
• Experience with Git-based development, testing, reusable modules, and CI/CD practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate secure, highly available Oracle database platforms across Exadata and Oracle RDS.
• Engineer resiliency using RAC, Data Guard, and backup/recovery capabilities.
• Lead capacity planning, performance optimization, migrations, upgrades, and cloud transitions.
• Apply software engineering practices to infrastructure with modular design, version control, testing, and CI/CD.
