Job summary

San Joaquin County seeks a Department Information Systems Specialist III in Health Care Services Administration to provide advanced technical support for complex networked systems and applications. The role requires specialized expertise beyond the journey level and involves installation, testing, troubleshooting, and coordinating network components.

Eligible candidates must meet minimum qualifications including education/experience substitutions and a special requirement for testing

Qualifications

• Completion of at least 60 semester units from an accredited college or university, including 24 units in computer science.
• Three years of experience that included substantial responsibility for operating, installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting and repairing desktop computer hardware, software, peripheral equipment and/or network systems.
• Possession of an approved information systems technology certificate, or completion of an approved information systems training course may substitute for all or part of the above required education.
• Additional qualifying experience within the last five years may substitute for the above education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical assistance to system users on complex network and computer systems hardware, software and peripheral equipment problems.
• Monitors systems, networks and applications; recommends changes to resolve problems; installs and configures hardware/software on networked systems.
• Performs network administration duties; manages users/devices; resets passwords; maintains network files.
• Oversees installation of cabling; coordinates major equipment repairs; trains desktop users; documents changes and configurations.

Education

60 semester units including 24 in computer science

Three years of relevant experience in desktop/network support

Information systems technology certificate substitution

Additional qualifying experience substitution
