Job summary

FTI Defense - Frontier Technology Inc. is seeking an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) based in Colorado Springs, CO, to support security of DoD mission systems. The role requires Top Secret/SCI clearance and Sec+, with RMF knowledge and defense-space program experience.

You will enforce cybersecurity policies, coordinate with the Wing Cybersecurity office, and lead ongoing security posture improvements while traveling up to 10% as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (computer science, information security, engineering, math) with related work experience.
• 6+ years of relevant experience in information security or aerospace/defense programs.
• Top Secret/SCI clearance is required.
• CompTIA Security+ (Sec+) is required.
• Experience with DoD/IC space system acquisition programs.
• Knowledge of RMF and DoD/IC cybersecurity requirements, policies and best practices.
• Experience with IT security requirements, architecture and design.

Responsibilities

• Implement and enforce AF cybersecurity policies, procedures, and countermeasures.
• Maintain required cybersecurity certification IAW AFMAN 17-1303.
• Ensure users have appropriate clearances and complete annual cybersecurity training.
• Maintain access control documentation per AF Records Management.
• Ensure software/hardware/firmware meet security configuration guidelines.
• Follow change management procedures prior to implementation.
• Coordinate changes with ISSM, SCA, and Wing Cybersecurity office.
• Initiate protective or corrective measures when security incidents are found.
• Report incidents or vulnerabilities per AFI 17-203, Cyber Incident Handling.
• Initiate exceptions or waivers to cybersecurity requirements.
• Travel up to 10%.

Education

Overview

FTI is a defense technology company seeking an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to support the security of information systems used in defense missions. This position is based at the ENSCO location in Colorado Springs, CO. An active DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI access is required.

Responsibilities

The Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) will work on Defensive Cyber Operations for Space ( DCO - S ) providing expertise and support in network security engineering and/or integration of security products. This is a fast-paced and highly challenging position where you will be a member of a team. The ISSO is responsible for ensuring the appropriate operational security posture is maintained for the assigned IT. This includes the following activities related to maintaining situational awareness and initiating actions to improve or restore cybersecurity posture.

The ISSO

• Implements and enforce all AF cybersecurity policies, procedures, and countermeasures.
• Completes and maintains required cybersecurity certification IAW AFMAN 17-1303 Individuals in this position must be U.S. citizens.
• Ensure all users have the requisite security clearances and need-to-know, complete annual cybersecurity training, and are aware of their responsibilities before being granted access to IT according to AFMAN 17-1301.
• Maintains all authorized user access control documentation IAW the applicable AF Records Information Management System.
• Ensures software, hardware, and firmware comply with appropriate security configuration guidelines (e.g., security technical implementation guides /security requirement guides).
• Ensure proper configuration management procedures are followed prior to implementation and contingent upon necessary approval.
• Coordinate changes or modifications with the system-level ISSM, SCA, and/or the Wing Cybersecurity office.
• Initiate protective or corrective measures, in coordination with the ISSM, when a security incident or vulnerability is discovered.
• Reports security incidents or vulnerabilities to the system-level ISSM and wing cybersecurity office according to AFI 17-203, Cyber Incident Handling.
• Initiates exceptions, deviations, or waivers to cybersecurity requirement.
• Ability to travel up to 10%.

Education/Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Security, Engineering, Mathematics or a related technical field is desired.
• 6+ years of relevant experience
• Top Secret/SCI clearance required.

• Experience working with DoD and/or Intelligence Community (IC) space system acquisition programs.
• Understanding of Risk Management Framework (RMF) and DoD / IC cybersecurity requirements, policies and best practices.
• Experience with IT Security including requirements, architecture and design.

For this role, the annual compensation range for candidates in Colorado is $100 K-$163K. Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience. FTI has a location-based compensation structure; there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
