Description

Program Summary

As a Senior Information Security Systems Engineer (ISSE), you will join a small team of security engineers providing Information Assurance (IA) Architecture Analysis and Security Engineering Support for the implementation and fielding of the Leadership Command Capability in support of Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3), Continuity of Government (COG), and Senior Leader communications. The ISSE will serve in a consultative role, offering technical knowledge, expertise, and advice to our customer.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Senior ISSE shall deliver and lead threat-informed cybersecurity products—including risk assessments, architecture reviews, and engineering guidance—that provide sound, accurate, timely, and actionable service to mission partners. This includes:

1. Conduct cybersecurity risk assessments and provide prioritized risk mitigation recommendations supporting the customer’s mission.
2. Support the design, implementation, and operation of real-time capabilities to discover, detect, analyze, and mitigate threats and vulnerabilities.
3. Analyze candidate architectures against security requirements to identify gaps and recommend mitigation strategies.
4. Research and evaluate emerging technologies for cybersecurity effectiveness.
5. Assist stakeholders in developing, refining, delivering, and implementing innovative solutions and capabilities.
6. Engage stakeholders to define security objectives, protection needs, requirements, and validation methods.
7. Validate and verify system security requirements and establish system security design.
8. Design, develop, implement, and/or integrate IA and security systems, including those for networking, computing, and enclave environments with varying data protection/classification requirements.
9. Assist architects and developers in identifying and implementing appropriate security functionalities to ensure compliance with security policies and enterprise solutions.
10. Contribute to security planning, assessment, risk analysis, risk management, certification, and awareness activities.
11. Review C&A documentation, providing feedback on completeness and compliance.

CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Active TS/SCI with polygraph; US Citizenship required. CCA cases may be considered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Security System Engineering, or related field, with a minimum of 20 years of experience as an ISSE or System Engineer on relevant programs.
• CISSP or CASP certification required.
• CISSP-ISSEP DoD approved 8570 Level III certification preferred.
• Strong writing skills.
• Ability to present briefings confidently to senior DoD officials, both prepared and in ad hoc discussions.
• Expertise in Risk Management Framework (RMF) and cybersecurity risk assessments.
• Experience with network technology, system security engineering, and identifying security weaknesses across systems and networks.
• Experience in developing security requirements and conducting gap analysis.
• Experience with security monitoring and incident response.
• Knowledge of emerging technologies like Zero Trust and Cloud Computing.
• Practical knowledge of NIST SP 800 Series, CNSSI 1253, and DoD 8500 standards.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Pay Range: $126,100.00 - $227,950.00
