Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited is hiring a Senior Information Officer for a four-month engagement with a local authority in the UK. The role focuses on information governance, data protection, and records management to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and best practices.

The successful candidate will provide expert guidance on FOI, GDPR, and related regulations, develop and maintain governance frameworks, and support audits and assurance activities within council services.

Qualifications

• Degree-level education or equivalent relevant experience.
• Professional qualification in Information Governance, Data Protection, Compliance, Records Management, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Offer expert guidance on Data Protection, FOI, EIR, and best practices in information governance.
• Assist in the creation, execution, and upkeep of information governance policies, procedures, and frameworks.
• Monitor adherence to information governance standards and pinpoint areas needing improvement.
• Aid services in establishing efficient records management and information handling procedures.
• Ensure organizational compliance with UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and related legislation.
• Participate in information governance audits, reviews, and assurance processes.
• Keep precise records of governance activities, compliance measures, and their outcomes.
• Proven experience in information governance, data protection, compliance, or records management.
• Skilled in managing FOI, EIR, and SARs.
• Proficient in providing advice and guidance on information governance and data protection issues.
