Job summary

The California Department of Social Services (CDSS), Legal Division, is recruiting to hire one permanent full-time Attorney IV within the Information, Technology & Administrative Litigation (ITAL) Branch. Join our close-knit team to support our clients in achieving CDSS’ mission to serve, aid and protect needy and vulnerable children and adults.

The Attorney IV will advise on information governance, E-Discovery, legal holds, and public records disclosures, acting as the Department’s subject

Qualifications

• Extensive experience advising a public entity on statutes and records laws.
• Knowledge of training techniques and delivering trainings to varied audiences.
• Clear, effective legal advice written and spoken for executives and staff.
• Ability to interact across a department and with other agencies while working independently.
• Willingness to perform duties with a customer-service orientation.

Responsibilities

• Advise on information governance, including Public Records Act and Information Practices Act.
• Provide guidance on E-Discovery, legal holds, and records collection and review.
• Develop and present training on information governance issues to lawyers and non-lawyers.
• Keep abreast of evolving law and technology in information governance for public entities.
• Serve as subject matter expert on information governance within the department.
