Job summary

Liberty Hospital in Liberty, Missouri is seeking an experienced Infection Preventionist II to lead infection prevention and control initiatives across the hospital system. The role focuses on coaching staff, improving safety culture, and ensuring compliance with best-practice guidelines.

The IP professional will coordinate surveillance programs, provide education, and collaborate with occupational health, public health, and safety teams to manage outbreaks and regulatory readiness.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in a science or health related field (biology, chemistry, health sciences, nursing etc.) from an accredited college or university.
• Bachelor's Degree in a science or health related field (biology, chemistry, health sciences, nursing etc.) from an accredited college or university.
• 7 or more years of experience in a science or health related field.
• 5 or more years of experience in infection control.
• Certified in Infection Control (CIC) - Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC).

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates excellence, independence in and meet all requirements for the Infection Preventionist II level.
• Demonstrates excellence in critical thinking, interpersonal relationships, and technical skills.
• Mentors and orients IP I & II staff.
• Interacts professionally with colleagues and uses conflict resolution skills.
• Collaborates under supervision of the Infection Prevention and Control Nurse Manager.
• Shows in-depth knowledge of infection prevention, regulatory requirements and project management.
• Leads development and delivery of educational materials on infection control and improvement topics.
• Coordinates preparedness for accreditation visits and emergency responses.
