Job summary

The role supports faculty and sponsors, requires deep knowledge of intellectual property, contract law, and data sharing, and involves training faculty and participating in business development with industry sponsors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related area and minimum 5 years of relevant experience and/or combination of education and experience.
• Thorough knowledge of laws, regulations, and practices pertaining to IP, technology transfer, and related subjects.
• Ability to interpret and articulate institutional principles, IP laws, and policies.
• Understanding of contracting and subcontracting practices.
• Ability to analyze complex technical data with logic and quantitative reasoning.

Responsibilities

• Advises on intellectual property clauses, contracts and agreements in complex sponsored and collaborative research agreements.
• Negotiates and/ or approves and executes contracts and agreements involving industry, material testing and transfer agreements.
• Negotiates material testing and transfer agreements.
• Conducts training with faculty regarding intellectual property/ technology transfer policies and procedures.
• Gathers, analyzes, prepares and provides input on exceptions to policy.
• Conducts business development activities with industry sponsors, faculty and the university.
