Job summary

Emerson is seeking a Prognostics Engineer to oversee diagnostic and prognostic health monitoring technology for industrial equipment. The role emphasizes both physics-based and data-driven approaches, with expansion of algorithms to new applications and clear delivery of results.

You will collaborate with marketing, advanced technology, and software teams across locations to accelerate hardware, sensor, and analytics development, ensuring alignment with customer requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in STEM field.
• 5+ years of relevant industry experience or equivalent.
• Experience with prognostic algorithms and models (physics-based, data-driven, hybrid).
• Collaborative work with diverse global teams.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy prognostic and diagnostic algorithms for industrial control valves and associated equipment.
• Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, SMEs and collaborators to integrate prognostics solutions into systems.
• Analyze and interpret data from sensors, diagnostics, and maintenance records to identify failure modes, trends, and anomalies.
• Create algorithms to detect fault conditions and estimate remaining useful life (RUL) from sensor data and degradation models.
• Determine optimal type, number, and location of sensors based on objectives, performance criteria, and constraints.
• Create clear, verifiable engineering requirements and plans to achieve project goals.
