Job summary

The Planet Group is seeking a Lead Mechanical HVAC Engineer for a heavy industrial engineering and construction firm. The role requires a BSME, PE license, 10+ years of mechanical/process engineering design experience, and a track record leading project teams and mentoring staff.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting industrial HVAC projects in specialty chemicals, heavy industrial, and manufacturing environments, and will be proficient with AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• PE license required.
• 10+ years of mechanical/process engineering design experience.
• Experience leading project teams and mentoring engineers/designers.
• Experience supporting industrial HVAC projects in specialty chemicals, heavy industrial, or manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical and process systems from simple to complex.
• Coordinate with engineering teams and other disciplines.
• Develop designs for mechanical utility systems (chilled water, cooling towers, heating water, steam, condensate).
• Perform HVAC load and pressure-drop calculations to validate designs.
• Lead project teams, provide technical direction, and mentor staff.
• Interact with clients, vendors, and contractors to ensure design integrity.
