Job summary

GEODIS in Brentwood, TN is seeking a Sr Ind Engineer – DC Design to lead the development of conceptual and detailed designs for new distribution and fulfillment operations. You will drive layout, material handling, and slotting analyses, coordinating with vendors and internal teams to deliver fully engineered solutions ready for implementation.

The role requires hands-on design leadership, experience in 3PL warehousing, AutoCAD and SQL, and strong data analysis skills, with a focus on scalable

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Process, Mechatronics, or related engineering field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in a relevant engineering role.
• Expertise in AutoCAD and SQL required.
• PC literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• 3PL warehousing, distribution center or fulfillment experience required.

Responsibilities

• Analyze client data to determine order profiles, storage media, and slotting.
• Support sales responses to RFPs with materials and client presentations.
• Lead design from conceptualization to detailed layout for implementation.
• Prepare engineering documents covering storage, capacity, zoning, and sequencing.
• Configure WMS data for locations, slotting, sequencing, put-away, and picking.
• Coordinate with vendors for quotes and oversee equipment installation testing.

Sr Ind Engineer - DCD

The Sr Engineer – DC Design is responsible for developing a conceptual and a detailed design and the implementation of new distribution and fulfillment business. Leads the development of a design package that may include facility layouts, material handling equipment designs, storage media designs, process designs, and slotting and pick path analyses.

Your role on the team:

• Analyzes client data to determine order profiles, storage media application, product slotting, velocity, SKU affinities, ABC analysis
• Supports the sales process by supporting the solutions team’s response to RFPs including developing materials and presenting to potential clients
• Participates in scope confirmation sessions with client and conducts gap analysis to ensure issues are resolved; identifies changes to the scope when they occur and provides necessary documentation and escalation
• Leads detailed engineering process on new business awards to take the design from conceptualization to full detailed design ready for implementation by performing data analyses, developing material handling specifications, working with vendors to obtain quotes, and generating a detailed, engineered AutoCAD layout with fitment into the selected facility
• Prepares engineering documents to describe solution and detailed operating concepts such as storage and shipping capacity, zoning, slotting, waving, etc. and facilitates reviews with key work stream leads including engineering peers, WMS Implementation, and operations
• Participates on a team responsible for the implementation of new business by preparing WMS configuration files with all needed locations slotting/zoning/sequences/put-away and picking profiles for the facility and preparing slotting files and/or slotting tool for the facility
• Manages material handling vendors through schedule, permitting, installation, commissioning, punch lists, etc. and validates all equipment installation, including necessary testing of automated material handling equipment
• Participates on a team responsible for the implementation of new business by developing operational strategies (put-away, waving, picking, zoning, slotting, etc.) and preparing the WMS configuration file with all needed locations slotting/zoning /sequencing /put-away and picking profiles for the facility
• Manages material handling vendors through schedule, permitting, installation, commissioning, punch lists, etc. and validates all equipment installation, including necessary testing of automated material handling equipment
• Researches and maintains knowledge of emerging industry practice
• Other duties as required and assigned

Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Process, Mechatronics, or related engineering degree from an accredited institution
• Minimum 7 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must have expertise in AutoCAD and SQL
• Must be PC literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• 3PL warehousing, distribution center or fulfillment experience required
