Job summary

iDC Logistics is seeking a Senior Industrial Engineer to design, optimize, and scale distribution operations across the network. You will shape facility layouts, labor standards, and capacity models while partnering with Operations, Construction, Facilities, and vendors to deliver capital projects on schedule.

The role requires 7+ years in industrial or logistics engineering, with hands-on experience in distribution and facility design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing or related field.
• 7+ years of industrial, process, or operations engineering experience, including at least 4 years in distribution, third-party logistics, fulfillment, or high-volume manufacturing.
• Experience leading facility design and site master planning from concept and block layout through detailed design, installation, commissioning, and operational ramp-up.
• Strong knowledge of racking and storage systems, facility buildouts, permitting, inspections, and applicable design and safety requirements, including ANSI MH16.1, RMI standards, seismic, and fire code considerations.
• Proven experience developing engineered labor standards, capacity models, and labor planning tools using recognized methodologies such as time study, MOST, MTM, or equivalent approaches.
• Experience designing or deploying material handling automation, including conveyor, sortation, auto-sorter, or similar systems, with responsibility for vendor and integrator coordination.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent design software, with the ability to review and mark up construction, equipment, and installation drawings; 3D design capability preferred.
• Strong analytical and systems capability, including advanced Excel modeling and experience with WMS/LMS platforms such as Blue Yonder, Manhattan, Körber, or comparable systems; SQL, Power BI, Tableau, and simulation tools preferred.
• Experience developing capital business cases, including cost analysis, payback evaluation, implementation planning, and post-deployment validation.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-site environment, manage ambiguity, establish standards and processes, and coordinate effectively across internal teams, contractors, vendors, and external partners.
• Lean Six Sigma certification preferred
• Ability to travel approximately 40%–50% across network facilities

Responsibilities

• Lead facility design for new sites, expansions, customer onboarding, and operational redesigns across receiving, storage, picking, packing, value-added services, shipping, returns, and support areas.
• Develop and govern scalable site master plans, facility designs, and network design standards, including change control, drawing review, and approval of facility modifications.
• Design and oversee racking and storage systems from capacity planning and vendor coordination through permitting, installation, inspection, commissioning, and final engineering sign-off
• Develop engineering frameworks for slotting, storage media, picking strategies, wave and batch design, WIP limits, and material flow to improve space utilization, reduce travel and congestion, and increase facility density and throughput
• Identify opportunities to improve space utilization, reduce non-value-added travel, eliminate congestion, and increase facility density and throughput
• Build capacity and labor planning models that translate forecasted demand into space, staffing, material handling equipment, training, and peak requirements
• Develop, maintain, and govern engineered labor standards using recognized industrial engineering methodologies, and establish reporting that compares actual productivity against engineered expectations
• Provide engineered labor, capacity, and productivity assumptions to pricing, onboarding, and new-business design processes
• Lead automation and material handling initiatives from opportunity assessment and business case development through technical design, deployment, commissioning, and post-implementation validation
• Evaluate and prioritize automation and capital investments based on operational need, labor economics, facility constraints, expected return, implementation risk, and scalability.
• Own engineering delivery for facility buildouts, expansions, racking installations, automation deployments, and other capital projects, including scope, schedules, budgets, dependencies, permitting, inspections, and critical-path risks.
• Coordinate internal teams, landlords, contractors, vendors, integrators, and permitting authorities to ensure engineering deliverables are completed to approved technical, operational, and schedule requirements.
• Establish engineering documentation and technical review standards, and serve as a technical leader and mentor to Industrial Engineers and project teams by reviewing methodologies, assumptions, designs, and engineering outputs before release.
• Partner with Operations, Continuous Improvement, Quality, Onboarding, Facilities, Safety, IT, Construction, and executive leadership to translate engineering analysis into actionable operational and investment decisions.
• Travel to network facilities as required, approximately 40%–50%.

Position Summary:

The Senior Industrial Engineer leads the design, optimization, and scaling of distribution operations across the iDC network. The role integrates facility layout, material flow, storage strategy, labor standards, capacity, and site infrastructure to develop efficient, scalable operating solutions for new and existing facilities.

This position establishes engineering standards, models, and documentation that support consistency across the network, while leading technical design decisions from concept through implementation. The Senior Industrial Engineer also partners with Operations, Construction, Facilities, vendors, contractors, and other cross-functional teams to deliver facility, racking, equipment, and customer readiness commitments on schedule.

Success in this role requires strong technical judgment, the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced and evolving environment, and the ability to translate operational and customer requirements into practical, scalable engineering solutions. The position serves as a senior technical resource, reviewing designs, methodologies, and assumptions while influencing stakeholders from site teams through senior leadership.
