Job summary

Universal Logistics is seeking an Industrial Engineer to support Flint operations servicing General Motors. You will analyze material flow, optimize warehouse layouts, and develop PFEP methodologies to improve productivity and reduce waste in a high-volume automotive environment.

Collaborate with operations, engineering, and customer teams to drive continuous improvement, lead time studies, and performance reporting while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or related engineering discipline.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions and data analysis.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and project management skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced operational environment.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and improve material flow, inventory movement, and production support processes.
• Design and optimize warehouse layouts, storage locations, workstations, and assembly support areas.
• Develop and maintain PFEP methodologies.
• Conduct time studies, labor analysis, and productivity evaluations.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
• Support line‑side delivery planning and implementation.
• Create visual management tools and standard work documentation.
• Utilize data analysis to identify trends, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
• Assist with process mapping, workflow development, and operational design projects.
• Participate in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma activities.
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, and customer teams to support business objectives.
• Develop reports, presentations, and performance metrics for management review.
