Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
• 5-10 years of related experience designing electrical systems for industrial controls and control panels.
• Hands-on knowledge of PLC programming, HMI/GUI programming, computer operating systems, industrial networking, and process control.
• Experience with industrial networks such as EtherNet/IP, PROFIBUS, PROFINET, DeviceNet, or comparable technologies.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics and apply NEC and applicable local codes; knowledge of DIN standards is a plus.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and engineering-calculation skills, with the ability to define technical problems and develop practical solutions.
• Experience specifying electrical components and supporting industrial equipment through fabrication, installation, startup, and debug.
• Ability to understand and maintain project schedules while managing multiple priorities, documentation, and technical deliverables.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills for working with customers, engineers, estimators, contractors, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; ability to learn Microsoft Visio. SAP knowledge is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-moving, continuously evolving engineering environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and detail complete industrial control systems, translating mechanical schematics and customer requirements into practical electrical solutions.
• Create electrical schematics, system drawings, engineering calculations, bills of equipment, and technical documentation.
• Develop and support PLC/controller software and graphical user interface (HMI/GUI) code for industrial equipment.
• Own the electrical scope of assigned projects, including schedules, subcontractor coordination, bid-package documentation, transmittals, and document control.
• Partner directly with customers to establish design goals, clarify requirements, participate in design reviews, and communicate technical solutions.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineering, estimating, fabrication, software, installation, suppliers, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
• Follow designs through equipment fabrication and software testing, then support installation, site verification, startup, debugging, and commissioning.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical hardware, software, networking, and installation issues - both before they occur and when rapid field support is needed.
• Maintain project schedules and ensure electrical deliverables remain accurate, coordinated, and ready for execution.
