Job summary

ICON seeks a Senior Industrial Designer to join the Industrial Design team in Austin. You will contribute to conceiving, designing, validating, and launching ICON’s world-class products, bridging design and production with multidisciplinary collaboration.

The role emphasizes hands-on prototyping, material exploration, and cross-functional work with Hardware, Software, and Materials teams to advance shelter technologies globally.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional experience as an Industrial Designer.
• Industrial Design degree required.
• A body of work that demonstrates production feasibility or understanding of manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with team members and Executives to invent, design, engineer, and launch new products and services.
• Negotiate and collaborate cross-functionally with Hardware, Home, Controls, Material Science and Software teams to refine and execute the vision for products and services.
• Develop deep technical knowledge to understand other teams’ design constraints and challenges for seamless processes and production solutions.
• Collaborate with outside vendors and internal experts to optimize designs for function, aesthetics, and production.
• Research new materials, production methods, and technology for projects.
• Performs a wide range of tasks daily, transitioning from studio work to field work as needed.
