Job summary

Procter & Gamble’s Iowa City Oral Care Site seeks a Controls & Automation Engineer to design, develop, and implement robust control systems for a new manufacturing startup. Leverage PLCs, HMI/SCADA, instrumentation, and data analytics to improve line performance and product quality.

You will collaborate with manufacturing, quality, maintenance, and project teams, ensure safety compliance, and produce technical docs and training for plant personnel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or related technical field; electrical or automation preferred.
• 5+ years in industrial controls and automation.
• Experience with PLCs (ControlLogix) and HMI/SCADA systems.
• Knowledge of process control, instrumentation, drives, and vision systems.
• Familiarity with industrial networks, server infrastructure, and virtualization.
• Understanding of electrical design standards and machine safety practices.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment with change control and startup support.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement control strategies for safe, reliable manufacturing operations.
• Develop and program automation systems to improve productivity and system performance.
• Integrate equipment and control systems across the line and data systems.
• Apply data analytics or advanced control methods to improve process capability.
• Analyze performance, identify root causes, and implement improvements.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, maintenance, and project teams.
• Create and maintain system documentation and train plant personnel on operation.
